This petite young woman from Utrecht has a much bigger voice than you would expect! She mainly sings classic jazz standards, blended with easy listening. Sophie Melody celebrates her 14th anniversary this year (2025)!

Most of the time she performs solo with backing tracks, often walking around while singing—perfect for a dining setting. Her easy-going background music adds the ideal atmosphere to any dinner, reception, or business event.

Looking for a more intense live experience? She also performs with gypsy jazz guitarist Wouter van Dijk, with whom she has been playing fo

r over eight years. Together—with the help of a loop station and even a kazoo—they know how to entertain! Prefer a pianist? That’s also possible, of course.

From a trio (guitar and piano) to a full combo with a saxophonist—many options are available! Just ask about the possibilities.

Sophie Melody has an extensive repertoire. She sings jazz standards, modern jazz from artists such as Melody Gardot and Madeleine Peyroux, and combines these with pop songs from Ed Sheeran and more.

BIO

 

Sophie de Hart was born and raised in Zaandam and is 34 years old. She has been living in Utrecht for 15 years and is a proud mother of a 4-year-old son.

  • 2019 – Released her first album with Dutch songs (16bis), available on Spotify.

  • 2018 – Hosted cabaret and stand-up evenings for the Amsterdams Kleinkunst Festival.

  • 2017 – Won third prize with her cabaret and music theatre show at the Amsterdams Kleinkunst Festival.

  • 2016 – Performed with Michael Franti in The Hague, Antwerp, and Amsterdam.

  • 2015–2016 – Attended acting school at ArtEZ, Arnhem.

  • 2008 – Finalist in the TV show Una Voce Particolare with the song A Change in Me from the musical Beauty and the Beast. (Check the Media page for videos.)
